Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Scanit2Cloud.
Scanit2Cloud is a service that automatically transfers files from FTP/SFTP to cloud storage destinations including Microsoft SharePoint, Dropbox, and Google Drive. It's perfect for businesses that use scanners, printers, or legacy systems that can only output to FTP, but want those files to end up in cloud storage for easy access and collaboration.
Once you sign up, you'll receive an FTP/SFTP endpoint and can create seats (SFTP accounts) from your dashboard. Configure your scanner or application to upload files to this endpoint. Scanit2Cloud automatically receives the file and transfers it to your chosen cloud destination — SharePoint, Dropbox, or Google Drive — within seconds.
Scanit2Cloud supports three cloud storage destinations: Microsoft SharePoint (SharePoint Online via Microsoft Graph API), Dropbox (with both App Folder and Full Access modes), and Google Drive (including My Drive and Shared Drives). Each seat can be configured to upload to any one of these services.
A seat is an individual FTP/SFTP account with its own username, password, and destination configuration. Each seat connects to a single cloud service (SharePoint, Dropbox, or Google Drive) and can be configured with its own destination folder. If you have 5 scanners uploading to different locations, you would need 5 seats.
When configuring your scanner or FTP client, use the full username format: username@your-endpoint.scanit2.cloud. For example, if your username is "scanner1" and your endpoint is "company.scanit2.cloud", you would enter "scanner1@company.scanit2.cloud" as the username. This format allows multiple tenants to use simple usernames without conflicts.
When configuring your scanner for SFTP/FTP, use these settings: Protocol: SFTP (recommended) or FTP. Host: Your endpoint domain (e.g., company.scanit2.cloud). Port: 2022 for SFTP (primary), 2222 for SFTP (alternative), or 2121 for FTP. Username: Your full username in format username@your-endpoint.scanit2.cloud. Password: The password from your dashboard. Your dashboard provides all these details with copy buttons for easy configuration.
Dropbox supports two access levels. App Folder (Limited Access) creates a dedicated "ScanIt2" folder in your Dropbox and only accesses files within it — ideal if you want strict isolation. Full Access lets you choose any folder in your Dropbox as the upload destination, giving you more flexibility over where scanned files are stored.
Yes. When configuring a Google Drive seat, you can browse and select folders from both your personal My Drive and any Shared Drives you have access to. This makes it easy to route scanned documents directly into team or department drives.
You can transfer any file type supported by your chosen cloud destination, including documents, images, PDFs, spreadsheets, and more. There are no file type restrictions from Scanit2Cloud's side.
File size limits vary by plan. Check our pricing page for current limits per tier. All transfers use resumable upload technology for reliability, and are also subject to destination provider limits (SharePoint supports up to 250 GB, Dropbox up to 350 GB, and Google Drive up to 5 TB per file). Business and Enterprise customers requiring larger transfers can contact us for custom arrangements.
Absolutely. All transfers use encrypted connections (SFTP/TLS). Files are temporarily stored in encrypted cloud storage (AWS S3 with server-side encryption) during transfer and archived after successful delivery. We also support two-factor authentication (2FA) for your account, and all OAuth connections to SharePoint, Dropbox, and Google Drive use secure token-based authentication.
Yes. You can enable two-factor authentication (2FA) from your account security settings. We use TOTP-based 2FA that works with any authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, etc.). Backup codes are also provided when you enable 2FA.
Yes! Every account is assigned a default endpoint, but you can claim a custom subdomain (e.g., company.scanit2.cloud) for free from your domain settings. You can also configure your own custom domain (e.g., ftp.yourcompany.com) by adding DNS records we provide — a CNAME and a TXT record for verification.

We offer both monthly and annual billing through Stripe. Annual plans include a discount. All plans come with a 14-day free trial — no credit card required to start. You can manage your subscription, view invoices, and upgrade or downgrade from your billing dashboard.
Yes, you can cancel your subscription at any time. Your access will continue until the end of your current billing period. There are no cancellation fees or long-term commitments. Your seat configurations are preserved, so if you resubscribe later everything will be restored.
